http://jinglepoetry.blogspot.com/ My first poem for Poetry Pot Luck
Love: A Tragic Poem
Love has never been my friend;
It’s only stupid crushes ’til the end.
I kept looking for someone who understands,
Someone I could also call a friend.
But my heart has too big a hole;
It’s just something I can’t control.
Love isn’t out there, it’s too far away.
It’s too beautiful, my mind says.
Lonlieness is easier than love,
Crying ever easier than happiness..
Better to remain alone,
My heart a vagrant with no home.
Love: A Semi-Tragic Poem
Love decided to not be my friend,
Since I stole and wrecked his Benz.
I kept looking for someone who understands,
A friend who’d pay my bail with few demands.
I admit I ran into that pothole and lost control,
but you’d have done the same if you breathed in that much aerosol,
washing it down with a bottle of Nyquil to ease all the pain in my heart,
Grand theft auto and porn are easier than love from the start.
I could have found happiness in your arms,
but I guess that restraining order proves you’re immune to my charms.
Better to flee than call prison my new home,
Guess Tijuana will be where I roam.

You did a fantastic job with this. There is nothing quite like a sad poem. I used to listen to Bright Eyes once in a while when for Christsakes.
Still, that being said I have to disagree with you. It is actually much, much easier to be happy. Give it a shot and you’ll be amazed at how easily it comes and stays with you.

Hi Sumit!
Thank you for visiting and the links. I’m sorry I haven’t visited, but will. I’ve sadly let my blog slide a little the last few days. I read my comments the moment I see them, but I need to work at the speed of response. It always thrills me to see folks read something I wrote and my regulars are very dear friends now. I hope to see you again!

I have to admit, I was expecting a third, ‘un-tragic’ poem to balance this out and complete the triplet. (Maybe next time) But these two are good!

And I even prefer things in threes too! But how I work is try to be mildly humorous, so people don’t go on a downer from my junk. Thanks!

Lisa, I love these tragic love poems. Keep writing poetry like this because, like I said, I love it, and I want more.
The last line of your first poem: "My heart a vagrant with no home."
I actually read this too quickly as "My heart a vagina with no home."
Either way, I think it works.

I thoroughly agree. I should have used “vagina,” seeing as I love talking about mine so much.
“My heart is a vagina with no little man to call its dusty darkness home.”

God, how much does your poem reflect my feelings and thoughts and fears exactly??
I love them both, you’re a wonderful poet.

Yes, the first poem was the one that was me, the other was to prevent the downer. I don’t like being a downer.
Thank you very much!
