Quiet quelled by ringing in the ears,
a cat mews,
children’s voices outside play,
Next door a mother yells her dismay.
Upstairs the man has a partner
for amorous pursuits again.
Time ticks away,
the sun sets another day.
Just like everyday.
Every single day.

Another home run! I like the way you match the meter and word choice to help portray the idea of plodding routine. Well done.

A.B., I always love your comments. They sound like the sort found on book covers by critics. Very cool, thanks!

Those every day routines ..all the same … you dreams sometimes about something different, but when you can’t even the cat’s meow gives you comfort as long as there is a peace around!

OK, will try. I always start at the last entry instead of the first anyway, since most start with the first I figure. 🙂

Heh, it’s actually an amalgamation of the various sounds one can hear there. Some I don’t hear everyday, it’s more a poem on how mundane my life is.
